Yankees on the 2026 BBWAA Hall of Fame Ballot - Suspect Stars

Image
In our first look at former Yankees on the 2026 BBWAA ballot for the Baseball Hall of Fame, we focused on players who spent only a brief portion of their career with the Yankees. This time around, we'll dig into two players who are primarily known as Yankees and would likely be in the Hall of Fame already had steroids not been an issue during their careers. Before we get to those juicy stories, there's one more former Yankee on the ballot who has the best shot at election this year. Albeit with his own bit controversy that likely held him back from enshrinement in Cooperstown last year. Get your popcorn ready, it's high drama Hall of Fame time here at Jimmy Sez! For each player, their JAWS (Jaffe Average WAR Score, developed by Jay Jaffe) value is given along with the average Hall of Famer's JAWS at the player's position. Yankees on the 2025 BBWAA Hall of Fame Ballot - Championship Edition

In the first two installments of this series we focused on players who had only brief stints with the Yankees and were mostly remembered for playing with other teams. Now we're ready to take a deep dive into some players who are known primarily as Yankees, mainly because they won the only World Series championships of their careers in pinstripes. Each of these guys has a viable case for the Hall of Fame, but for various reasons only one is likely to be elected this year. For each player, their JAWS (Jaffe Average WAR Score, developed by Jay Jaffe) value is given along with the average Hall of Famer's JAWS at the player's position. Yankees on the 2024 BBWAA Hall of Fame Ballot - The A-Team

Our Hall of Fame coverage here at Jimmy Sez continues with our first look at the recently released BBWAA ballot for 2024 . The list includes eight former Yankees, and most of them have garnered enough support from the electorate to settle in for a nice, long stay on the ballot. That's certainly the case with the first four candidates we'll dig in to, who were put into a group simply because their first or last initial allows me to reference an 80's TV show in the title of this post. Only one player from this group has an outside chance to gain election this year, but it wouldn't be surprising to see all of them in the Hall of Fame eventually. Even if it's through the back door via a Veterans Committee vote further down the road. For each player, their JAWS (Jaffe Average WAR Score, developed by Jay Jaffe) value is given along with the average Hall of Famer's JAWS at the player's position. Yankees on the 2023 BBWAA Hall of Fame Ballot - The Juice Crew

It's a new year, and Hall of Fame season is really starting to ramp up. For the first time in ten years the BBWAA ballot isn't weighed down by the two biggest stars of the Steroid Era in Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds. While it's nice to have a repreive from the tired arguments on both sides of their cases, there's still no shortage of steriod controversy with this year's crop of candidates. In fact, three of them were active Yankee players when their steroid use - alleged or confirmed - took place. When it comes to their legacies as a Yankee, Andy Pettitte and Gary Sheffield couldn't be more different. When it comes to their chances for Hall of Fame induction, they're on eerily similar trajectories. With just two years of eligibility left, Sheffield's time is running out. Pettitte has another six years to run the BBWAA gauntlet, but his fate seems no different. Meanwhile, Alex Rodriguez will make his second appearance on the ballot as the most fascinati...
